Welcome

My name is Michiel Vlaminck and I am a senoir researcher (postdoc) and project manager at the Image Processing and Interpretation (IPI) group, an imec research group at Ghent University. I am also a member of the UAV Research Center (URC) of Ghent University.

I received my MSc degree in Computer Science Engineering in June 2013 and my PhD degree in Computer Science Engineering in March 2020, both from Ghent University. During my PhD I have been working on the topic of 3D scene reconstruction and SLAM using active depth sensors such as lidar scanners and ToF cameras.

Currently I am working on UAV-related topics in the field of infrastructure inspection, including PV power plants and off-shore wind turbines. I am using computer vision and AI techniques on data acquired by different imaging modalities, such as RGB, thermal and hyperspectral cameras.
